Norpro Cast Iron Bacon Grill Press
Even the best cut bacon can curl, making it difficult to cook evenly. The cast iron bacon press flattens the bacon, keeping it's shape for even cooking and the wooden handle stays cool while the press is in use. To speed up the process, pre-heat the press.
Bacon curls while frying, making it difficult to cook evenly. Long ago, cooks found a simple solution to this problem: hold bacon to its proper shape by flattening it with a heavy, cast-iron press. Norpro's press hews to that tradition. It's made of traditional cast iron and has a wooden handle that stays cool while the press is in use. For speeding up the bacon-frying process, the press can be preheated--also preheat it when you're flattening hamburgers, grilled sandwiches, or quesadillas. Season the press by coating it with oil and heating it for 20 minutes; after cleaning it in soapy water, it should also be lightly coated with vegetable oil to prevent rust. --Fred Brack

A lovely example of the traditional cast-iron teapots known in Japan as tetsubin, this pot with its delicate, hand-cast, raised design in highlighted in black is not only prized as a collectible, but also brews 20 ounces of tea perfectly. Its interior is glazed in enamel, so it won't rust or corrode; nor will its stainless-steel infuser. To make soothing, full-flavored tea, simply spoon loose tea leaves into the infuser, pour on simmering water, and allow to steep for three to five minutes. The heavy cast-iron construction retains heat so well, it ensures second cups will still be hot. A GREAT GIFT IDEA JAPANESE CAST IRON TEA POT SET.
